Our journey began in somewhat strange conditions. Roughly four weeks ago me and my friend, Lina were to board a flight from Helsinki-Vantaa to to Rome. We had a second flight scheduled from Rome to Hong Kong and a third flight from Hong Kong to Shanghai.
Well, the D-day finally came and we arrived at the Helsinki-Vantaa airport tired, but exited. We proceeded to check-in to our flight but for some reason my passport was declined. A slight panic started to settle in as we sat in the terminal, waiting for the staff to sort it out. Waves of frustration swept over me when we learned that there had been an error with the spelling of my surname, and that I was not able to board the flight.
Fast forward an hour or so and I'm hugging Lina, wishing her a safe flight and watching her disappear in to the terminal area. I felt annoyed and saddened, but I quickly gained my composure and booked another flight for the night.
My new flight took a direct route and there were no extra stops along the way so everything went smoothly. After all of the hassle I was finally back in Shanghai and I met up with Lina, thus beginning our vacation!
Shanghai didn't let me down. Once again it offered an amazing traveling experience for the both of us. Far-East excites me and I find myself time after time again longing towards the ever-urban and culture rich streets of the city.
This was my second trip to Shanghai, but even though I had visited the city in my past everything felt different and new. I'm sure many of you know the feeling you get when you're spending your last day on a vacation and its time to go home, but you feel like there were so much more left to do, places to explore.. Well, Shanghai is the mother of those places. I could visit that city at least ten times and I would still be baffled by the vastness and and the variety of the place.
This is just a prologue, there is more to come!
